SOVIET STYLE. There is a concerted effort by many to remove the dissident power art offers by restricting expression to only proliferate dominant ideologies. Art as propaganda. Art as a means to shrink the world rather than expand it. Err no thanks.
I CARE BECAUSE YOU DO. Today spoilt Westerners often desecrate & call for the unravelling of the nations that provide them with historically unprecedented levels of safety, abundance & freedom. A tyrannical bandwagon screaming for diversity whilst calling for a hive mind annihilation of their culture & discourse into an homogeneous soup.
ORANGE MAN BAD. I love being British. I love my country. I love the West. I'm not supposed to say this out loud in the 'liberal' bourgeoisie circle I operate, where it’s implied my role as an artist is to reinforce the globalist status quo. Oops.
BAD IDEAS. It's very tempting in these thirsty 'like' me times to focus on painting images which are unchallenging & as decoratively palatable as possible, but the US & UK flags have grabbed my attention. They are perfect subject matter as they are one the ‘worst’ things to paint in today's anti-patriotic times.
ON THE SPECTRUM. There’s a trend for mega corporations to vomit Pride flags all over their brand. More Flags? Flags are bad! But no, these are ‘good’ flags. Yay! The same corporations don’t use rainbows in the less ‘understanding’ countries. Love is love (except when love means losing profit).
DAY GLO. I love painting with neon yellow. The colour now comes with the political undercurrent of the ‘Yellow Vest Movement’ - Merci France!
IT’S REAL BECAUSE I SAY SO. Unicorns - fictional illusions, proliferate culture today. A perfect mascot for a population who constantly post fake versions of themselves into virtual reality.
RIBBIT REDUCTION. Pepe the Frog was falsely rebranded by the regressive left as a symbol of far right extremism but now the Hong Kong protestors are using him as an icon for their resistance, waving him alongside the US flag as a symbol of freedom. Does this make the protestors Nazis now? Are the 'progressives' gonna punch em? Yaaaaaas Qween! XOXO
